Five Self Care Tips for Women in Business

If you’re looking for some Self Care Tips for Women in Business, you’re in the right place. Here’s your gentle reminder of those tips you probably already know but aren’t practicing regularly enough!

As a female entrepreneur, you’re always creating and delivering your service/product. You’re trying to do #allthethings that go alongside running a business and self care often falls to the bottom of the list. Sound familiar?

Self care needs to be in your DAILY routine. It can’t wait until tomorrow because without you, there is no business AT ALL. let that sink in…without you there is no business at all. You must take care of yourself.

I believe in the Law of Attraction and that we are powerful human beings. Sometimes, if like me, you might also wonder how the hell you manifested something ‘negative’ or ‘bad’ into your life.

So when I manifested a skiing accident recently, because essentially that’s what I did, what I was actually manifesting was more time for myself which then resulted in being off sick from my own business for a week. Hard pill to swallow. But you might have a similar story where something ‘bad’ has happened and there’s been a valuable lesson in it for you.

Now I’ve learnt that I not only have to make the time to create self care in the time I have available, but I also need to practice it DAILY and take action. It’s not something that can wait!

Here are the Five Self Care Tips for Women in Business.

ONE – Define what self care looks like to you.

Self care can mean different things to different women so it’s important to define what self care looks like to you. Is it taking a moment to rub body lotion in after a shower every day, or is it meditation every evening, a bath with candles and a great novel once a week, chatting with your girlfriends, browsing magazines, baking, doing something creative like colouring in, a puzzle, or singing. Or is it more pampering and going for a massage, having your hair or nails done – or both?! You get the idea, define what self care looks like for you on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. It’s up to you because you make the rules! Why not have a pick and mix list that you choose from every day?

TWO – Take care of yourself and COMMIT to it DAILY NO MATTER WHAT!

WIthout you, there is no business, ideas, creativity, clients or cash! Take the time out to plan your weekly and daily schedule. It may take a bit of tweaking to discover exactly what works for you but I can promise you it’s worth doing. In that schedule make sure you dedicate 30-60 minutes to yourself every day. If that needs to be in 15/20 or 30 minute blocks, that’s fine. The important thing is to find your groove and COMMIT to doing a self care practice every day.

THREE – Take time out regularly so you can get perspective on your business and life.

Leading up to my accident, I was getting so caught up in launch pressure, graphics, systems, website, etc, I lost sight of the bigger picture and actually what’s important. Hint – you and your health & wellbeing! Have fun with your girlfriends, do something creative that’s not related to business and take the time out you need AWAY from your business. Switch off and when you come back, you’ll have gained some perspective naturally.

FOUR – Listen to your intuition.

I know this seems so obvious but the amount of times I hear women saying they ignored it and then it came back and bit them on the bum. I know because I’ve been one of them! Try not to ignore your intuition or instinct – you know that nagging feeling in your gut or those voices you hear. They may be faint but it’s important to try and listen. Take action on it and try not to do the opposite, because your intuition is there for a reason.

FIVE – Plan, Prioritise and have FUN in your working day!

Keep your every day To Do list realistic, prioritise the essential tasks that need to get done today and aim to have fun with them. I get into funny characters mentally when I’m doing certain tasks. We recently did a challenge in The Mastermind Lounge about this as it’s a great way to bring a higher energy to some of the more dull, but essential, tasks. Aim to accomplish 2-5 tasks per day on your business (depending on what they are).

Don’t sit at your desks for hours trying to claim your badge of honour! Nobody cares how hard you work. If you’re a bit lonely working on your own all day from home, join us in the lounge where you can hang out with other creative women in business. Be productive, have fun and get support.

What are you going to do to practice self care for yourself? Nothing is more important than your own health and wellbeing. Your audience care about you and how you show up as the leader of your business matters to them. The energy you bring and the space you’re holding with them is important because they want to see you at your best so you can ensure they are being and doing their best.
