If you’re a woman in business working from home on your own most of the day, I think you’ll agree it has its challenges! Distractions anyone?! I know I’ve struggled in the past staying focused and productive whilst working from home and these three tips have really helped me.
There’s always things to do around the house; hoovering, laundry, cooking, DIY, the list goes on!!
Plus, the life admin; friends to see, plans to make and tickets to book!
And….you want to stay fit and healthy, listen to your favourite podcast and watch the latest boxset on Netflix! Who has finished The Crown series 3 btw?! No spoilers though!!
With all this lot, it’s no wonder you keep getting distracted!!!
Here’s three ways to help you stay focused and productive when you’re working from home, but…remember, it also comes down to self discipline
1.Create (and stick to) a routine. remember your old school timetable?! Produce one for your business. Look at the days and times you want to work and block out the time you’re unable to work.
2.Then create benchmarks in your working day. At 10am every day you reply to your emails, 11am you focus marketing, 12 noon, networking, client appointments etc. You know what you need to do in your day! Try and create times to do certain tasks on specific days and it will soon become a habit You’ll then know what you need to do when you get to your desk, instead of thinking; where shall I start today?!
Our online coworking sessions are perfect for creating benchmarks and structure to your day btw! Want to join us for a coworking session and see if they help you stay focused and productive? Visit here or contact me.
3.Practice and master the art of self discipline – you have to help yourself with this one but it will lead to a better quality of life if you do! Creating boundaries around your business is essential to having some down time so you can relax and switch off ish! but you must take care of yourself because without you there is no business!!!
What do you find the most distracting thing when you’re working from home?
I get tempted by the beautiful french alps half the time!
Especially if it’s a gorgeous day like today, I just want to be out in the fresh air skiing or hiking
